The posts are divided into different pay levels under the 7th Pay Commission, ranging from Pay Level 4 to Pay Level 8:
- Pay Level-7 (₹44,900 to ₹1,42,400): Assistant Section Officer (CSS, IB, Ministry of Railway, MEA), Inspector (Income Tax), Inspector (Central Excise), Inspector (Preventive Officer), Assistant Enforcement Officer.
- Pay Level-6 (₹35,400 to ₹1,12,400): Assistant / Superintendent, Divisional Accountant, Sub-Inspector (CBI), Junior Statistical Officer (JSO).
- Pay Level-5 (₹29,200 to ₹92,300): Auditor, Accountant, Junior Accountant.
- Pay Level-4 (₹25,500 to ₹81,100): Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant, Senior Secretariat Assistant, Tax Assistant (CBDT/CBIC), Sub-Inspector (Central Bureau of Narcotics).
- Educational Qualification (As of August 1, 2026):
- Essential: A Bachelor’s Degree (Graduation) in any stream from a recognized University or Institute.
- For Junior Statistical Officer (JSO): Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with at least 60% Marks in Mathematics at 12th standard level OR Bachelor’s Degree with Statistics as one of the subjects at degree level.
- Age Limit (As of August 1, 2026):
- Minimum Age: 18 Years
- Maximum Age: Varies from 27 to 32 Years depending on the specific post profile.
- Age Relaxation: Standard upper age relaxations apply for reserved categories (SC/ST: 5 years, OBC: 3 years, PwD: 10 years).

- General / OBC / EWS: ₹100
- SC / ST / Women / PwD / Ex-SM: Exempted (Nil)
- Payment Mode: Online through Net Banking, Visa, MasterCard, Maestro, RuPay Credit or Debit cards, or BHIM UPI.
- Selection Process
- The selection process is entirely based on merit through a two-tier computer-based test:
- Tier-1 (Qualifying): Computer Based Examination consisting of 100 objective questions for 200 marks (General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Comprehension). Time duration is 60 minutes.
- Tier-2 (Merit-Based): Includes Paper-I (Compulsory for all posts, covering Mathematical Abilities, Reasoning, English, General Awareness, and a mandatory Computer Knowledge Test & Data Entry Speed Test). Paper-II is only for JSO candidates.
- Document Verification (DV): Conducted by user departments after final selection.
