The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the National Defence Academy & Naval Academy (NDA & NA) Examination (I) 2026 for admission to the Army, Navy, and Air Force wings of NDA, and the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme of the Naval Academy.
Eligibility Criteria :
Educational Qualification : * For Army Wing: Passed Class 12 (10+2 pattern) or equivalent. * For Air Force & Naval Wings and 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme (NA): Passed Class 12 (10+2 pattern) with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM). * Candidates who are appearing in the Class 12 examination are also eligible to apply.
Age Limit : Candidates must be born not earlier than July 2, 2007, and not later than July 1, 2010. (Age range: 16.5 to 19.5 years).
Marital Status : Only Unmarried male and female candidates are eligible.
Nationality : Indian citizens, subjects of Nepal/Bhutan, or specific categories of Persons of Indian Origin (PIO).
Vacancies (Tentative) : Approximately 394 posts (Army: 208, Navy: 42, Air Force: 120, Naval Academy: 30) including vacancies for female candidates.

Selection Process :
The selection process consists of two main stages:
Written Examination: Conducted by UPSC.

Service Selection Board (SSB) Interview: Includes Intelligence & Personality Tests.

Medical Examination and Document Verification.
Exam Pattern :
The written examination is an objective-type (Multiple Choice Questions) test conducted in offline (Pen & Paper) mode.

Subject : Mathematics
Duration : 2.5 Hours
Maximum Marks : 300
No. of Questions : 120
Negative Marking : 1/3rd (approx. −0.83 per wrong answer)
Paper -II
Subject : General Ability Test (GAT)
Duration : 2.5 Hours
Maximum Marks : 600
No. of Questions : 150
Negative Marking : 1/3rd (approx. −1.33 per wrong answer)
The General Ability Test (GAT) is further divided into:
Part A: English (Approx. 50 Qs, 200 Marks)
Part B: General Knowledge (Approx. 100 Qs, 400 Marks - covering Physics, Chemistry, General Science, History, Geography, and Current Events)
How to Apply
The application process is entirely online and consists of two parts on the official UPSC website:
OTR (One Time Registration): New candidates must first complete the OTR process on upsconline.nic.in.
Part-I Registration: Fill in personal and educational details.
Part-II Registration:
Fee Payment: Pay the application fee. (₹100 for General/OBC Male candidates. Exempted for SC/ST, Female candidates, and Wards of JCOs/NCOs/ORs).
Select Center: Choose the preferred exam city (allotted on a "first-apply-first-allot" basis).
Upload Documents: Upload scanned photograph and signature in the specified format and dimensions.
Final Submission: Review all details and take a printout of the confirmation page.
